Karl Pflanz

Karl Pflanz, 91, of Salem, died at 5:02 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2001 at Doctors' Health & Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
Mr. Pflanz was born May 11, 1910 in Benton, the son of Charles C. and Della (Johnson) Pflanz. He married Helen E. "Liz" Pflanz on September 13, 1931 in Macon, Ill. and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Pflanz was a manager for St. Clair & Salem Ice Co. and for Blue Bell meat packing company in Decatur, Ala. He also owned Karl's Portion Meats in Huntsville, Ala.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Karole and Robert Meyer of Salem and Sheila and Don Taylor of California; a sister, Melita Pflanz of Du Quoin; a sister-in-law, Shirley Kindele and husband Charlie of Macon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held on Monday. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Belleville. Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.
